Spinal compression fractures are also called vertebral compression fractures (VCF). This type of spinal fracture can cause severe back pain and adversely affect your overall health.


Vertebral compression fractures may compromise the spinal canal, which means the VCF may cause myelopathy or spinal cord injury. Symptoms may include include numbness, weakness, bowel and/or bladder problems, and in rare cases, paralysis.
