Osteoporosis-Related Spine Fractures

How Kyphoplasty Can Help

Osteoporosis or low bone mass is one of the most common bone diseases worldwide. Over 54 million Americans are affected with significant osteoporosis. It affects people 50 years or older significantly more frequently than the younger population.

People with osteoporosis and low bone mass are more likely to suffer from vertebral compression fractures. Please start a conversation with your primary care physician regarding prevention and treatment of Osteoporosis. This may include proper diet, exercise regimen, supplements and other medications.

Spinal X-ray Scan

For compression fractures from osteoporosis and/or traumatic events, our providers offer percutaneous balloon kyphoplasty in many cases. These fractures are very painful in many cases and can cause significant morbidity.

While conservative treatment may be indicated in some cases, there is increased evidence that kyphoplasty procedures can reduce morbidity and pain associated with these fractures significantly. This can result in resuming activities earlier in many cases.
